Chinese Toy Factory Pictures
Posted September 20th, 2007 by MikeCheck this out.
I was really moved by these pictures. I initially thought it was for the obvious politics du jour reasons, but none of these made sense.
Is it because they are Chinese being “exploited”? No. These same pictures could have been taken in the U.S. just a couple decades ago.
Is it because anyone is being “exploited”? No. Assembly line work is work.
The real reason I find it moving: Did God intend for these people to live like this? Not people in general, but these people?
Update: Laurel made a good comment on this blog, so I dedicated a whole post to it here.

If you are going to mention god, then you must believe in one. If you believe in god, then you must believe everything happens for a reason. The last line of your post is one of the most asinine things I have ever read.

Generally I don’t approve ‘anonymous’ blog comments, and quietly trash them. I thought this one was too illustrative to trash, though. This is from the Chinese pictures post:
If you are going to mention god, then you must believe in one.
I suppose that no atheist can then even mention God, a god, or a god concept, or a creator. Isn’t this kind of silly? Especially since the comment itself mentions little-g god.
If you believe in god, then you must believe everything happens for a reason.
Since this sentence mentions god, and further delves into the implications of god existing, then by the aforementioned rule you must believe in a god.
Really though, this is little more than clumsy Theological statement. There are about 500 pages of assumptions and the content isn’t really worth talking about. Anyone with a cursory understanding of Christian Theology can see the problems with this statement.
The last line of your post is one of the most asinine things I have ever read.
Ah…seems like commenter just wants to call names. Ok. Mission accomplished.

This is the meat of the modern Atheist movement, or backlash, or whatever you want to call it. They like to roll their eyes, say “haha…’god’…how stupid can you get.” By repeating it enough they seek to create a meme that believing in God requires a lack of mental ability.
I have been talking with atheists online since 1985 (back when it was primarily BBS’). The Athiest showing seems to get weaker and weaker. This comment is a perfect example.
Aside from the public policy implications (teaching your kids to believe in God is child abuse, etc), Christians have little to fear from Atheists. The real danger lies elsewhere.

Mike, what makes “these people” any different from other people in the world? If God made us all and loves us all, does he draw the arbitrary distinctions based on race and income that we do?
Just curious as to what you think,

what are you trying to imply by saying “these people” in correlation with the situation they are in. Because it sounds like you are implying that God meant for them to be in menial mindless jobs which infers that they are inferior by nature and supernatural law, which is asinine as your former atheist friend mentioned. He isnt name calling merely pointing out how ignorant that question is.

Humanist, I don’t think you actually read either post.
