The Colonoscopy Underground
Posted September 17th, 2007 by MikeI had one of these this morning. There, I admit it.
Typically you don’t really have one until you’re 50 or so. But due to some troubles, my doc said I had to have one. When I found out, I started quietly asking around. Turns out that about 50% of my guy friends in my age group (30′s) have also had one at some point.
Those having brain surgery, limb surgery, blood tests, etc. can freely speak of their procedure. But for some reason, we don’t want to admit to “one of those” unless it’s an almost whispered discussion with nobody else around.
Long story short: No big deal. They knock you out and you wake up ready to go home and eat a huge steak (since you have to do a liquid diet for 24-36 hours).
The results indicated that everything is A-ok. No further tests needed. But I did reach a conclusion:
It takes guts to have a colonoscopy.
(get it?)

Yeah, and I don’t have the stomach for an ulcer.
