So this morning I drove my daughter and son to school for the last time. No, not the last time, of course, but definitely the last time in this particular way. For the last 6 years it’s been my daddy duty and joy to drive my kids to school. It started when it was just [...]

Interesting…seems like someone is posting to message boards with the name “agoodday”. When other people search for it in google, it comes up with “agoodday”. Which is one of my tags for posts. And they’re saying “aha…I found his website!”. C’mon folks. Even a cursory look would show that this is a tag and not [...]

Today I sang an a cappella number with our church’s youth ensemble, One Voice. They’re a good singin’ group of kids and they’re pretty funny too. More funny than they realize (and I mean that in the best possible way). Really brings back memories of my ol’ high school ensemble days. I’m going to go [...]

This morning I drove both kids to school. Most of the time I drive our daughter and my beautiful bride drives our son. But today It was just dad and the kids so I had to make a route of it. There are few things more fun to me than listening to our kids talk…especially [...]

Today is my birthday. So I encourage everyone to think today about the miracle that is us….the fact that we are here. Odds were against it. So here’s an interesting story about fertility treatment from the always good Freakanomics blog. Lots of interesting takes on that. While the outcome was good, what about the ethics [...]

Yesterday was my daughter’s birthday. Yep, she was an April fool’s baby. We always have great fun tricking her. She’s kind of a weather fan, and loves severe storms. Mainly, she loves it when the power goes out so everyone has to use flashlights. Almost every night she wants me to check the weather to [...]

OK so it has nothing to do with NASCAR, but…. Yesterday was our 13th wedding anniversary. That’s about 145th in Hollywood years. We celebrated by going out to lunch and laughing about our senior year World History class, where our teacher separated us so we wouldn’t talk. Then told me I couldn’t look at her [...]

My wife and I had our geekiest date ever by going to Omegacon this weekend. I’ve been to many similar scenes for computer security, but this is my first sci-fi/fantasy con to attend. And my lovely wife was there with me. The funnier parts of this scenario can be summed up in one question: “Mike, [...]

…A 17 year old boy and girl got into a Pontiac Fiero and started their first official date. The date was to watch “Pet Cemetery” at a friends Halloween party, and as they left the girls driveway she said “don’t worry, I know where it is”. They drove to a neighborhood about 5 minutes away, [...]

Take the plot of Lord of the Flies. Change the setting to a Las Vegas casino. Call it “Chucky Cheese”. That’s where we were tonight. And like the novel, it is a long, sad story of the loss of innocence. Of the passing of time and the analysis of souls. Of the complicated exchange of [...]

Today we made a trip to Ponce De Leon springs just north of where we’re staying at the beach. It’s about an hour away, and it’s a state park. This means it’s quite different from the polished bazillion dollar homes on the coast. We loved it. My grandparents are from DeFuniak Springs, and my great [...]

The event last night was great. It’s strange how singing for other churches is far less nerve wracking than singing for your own. God has really put me in the middle of a great church and a great group of friends. Thanks to everyone who was there! I hope everyone was inspired to find their [...]

Seems like any time my wife and I get out of town without kids, something tragic happens shortly after. Last year, we were in Sedona one week before all the forest fires broke out. This year, we stayed at the Omni/CNN Center and one week later there is a tragic shooting. That’s a downer. But, [...]

12 years ago today, my parents paid an enormous amount to a nice family across town to arrange a marriage for me. That’s the only way I can explain how I was able to marry such a smart, smokin’ woman. To commemorate this event, my wife and I got out of town this weekend and [...]

I had a chance to sing in a trio with Mac Powell (of Third Day fame) this morning. When given the opportunity to hang out with such a person, I follow two rules: a) in general, shut up b) learn! And man, what a learning experience. Many multi-platinum, award winning artists are completely full of [...]

Cool! “Song for Our Life” won the Contemporary Christian/Gospel category of the Billboard Song Contest! There a bunch of prizes, but the best thing is the tune will be on the Billboard compilation disc….which equals more music in more ears….which is the point of the whole thing. God is good!

Had to do an emergency server move today….some folks may still not be able to see this website. Which means you can’t read this so you won’t know. But it should slowly start working for everyone. Last week was a terrrible week. Bad. Sickness, etc. But today I gotta say that it was not a [...]
